Lestrade of the Yard by Nero749 Lestrade of the Yard by Nero749
Another commission for my 'patron,' the lovely :iconsweetmarly:. Who you should now all thank, because this is the first proper Lestrade piece in my gallery :D

It nearly drove me insane painting it, but glad I sticked with it (and that :iconsweetmarly: was patient enough to let me), because I actually like it now. Especially his expression - borderline smug - it suits him well. :XD:

Oh yeah! Those are crazy! I mean, I sit at baseball games and sketch the people below me in the stands, stuff like that. But my drawings are definitely not very accurate.

Well if it helps, that still takes it out of me as well... I usually draw people I know (because they're around more, lol). I mean they still LOOK like themselves, but not anywhere near as much as when I just ue a photo and a grid to sketch it out...

Nero, Nero, Nero!

What am I to do with you? First, you surprise the blazes out of me with all that Benedict wallpaper, and now, you've got our favourite DI on the cook!

I've run out of words to describe the great work you do!!! Yet, you do realize that it'll only take Sherlock two minutes to wipe that smug look off his kisser? I wouldn't put it past our detective. If there's anyone who can sink Lestrade's ship at the harbour, it's the one and only Sherlock Holmes!!!

Again, what can I say? You've knocked another one out of the park, Nero! Congrats!

Sincerely yours always,

Indy.

Hehe, well you should really thank sweetmarly for me painting Lestrade :D The reference were two screenshots from A Study in Pink, when Sherlock and JOhn find Lestrade in 221B, so he was certainly smug then! Haha!

Dear Nero:

This is Indy. Greetings from a much cooler Southwestern Ontario!

For openers, remind me again as to why Lestrade was at 221b? Was it that fake drug search? I don't have to tell you that I was about ready to strangle Donovan!! If she doesn't have anything nice to say about anyone, including Sherlock, she should keep her bloody trap shut!

I've got a question and the latest rumour for you.

Rumour: Christopher Ecclestone (Doctor #9) is being slated to play Sherlock's father. I think we have our hands full enough with just TWO Holmes brothers, thank you kindly!!

Question: Sherlock always said that invented the job of consulting detective. How did the job actually come about? I heard somewhere that it was to keep him from the cocaine.

Your take on all this?

Sincerely yours always,

Indy.

P.S. It'll take Sherlock only two seconds to wipe that smug look off Lestrade's kisser! After all, he is Sherlock Holmes.

Yeah it was the fake drug search ;)

Er... play Sherlock's father in BBC Sherlock? I hadn't heard! I would rather see 'mummy' make an appearance ;)

Also, isn't Christopher Ecclestone the same age as mark Gatiss?

Dear Nero:

This is Indy. Greetings from Canada!! I hope this finds you and yours well.

You kind of wonder who put them up to it--Mycroft? Anderson? Donovan? My money's riding on Donovan. If my OC, Rossi, ever got her hands on Donavan, dear Sally would regret the day she came into this world. I like her about as much as I like Mycroft, which ain't much.

As for the age question between Gatiss and Eccleston: Mark is 46 years old and Christopher is 48 so, based on that, I really can't see how that is going to work between the two of them. If we throw Sherlock into the mix, it might work a little better between Benedict and Christopher for there a nine year difference between those two.

Any thoughts?

Sincerely yours always,

Indy.

Still 9 years! That's almost nothing! :O The only way it would work is if they had some kind of flashback where the dad appears... I mean how could it work? Unless they're going to do the whole 'making him look old through loads of make-up' - thing, but why not get an older actor? I mean there are tons of great ones out there!

Dear Nero:

This is You Know Who! Greetings from Canada!!

Now, that I've given it a lot of second thought, I realize you're right. It's not going to work. For it to be able to work, Mr. Eccleston would have to be fathering babies the minute he was out of the womb! I do suppose you know he played the ninth Doctor?

You said an older actor. You mean something along the lines of Sir Michael Caine, who just got finished playing Alfred? If you have to ask "Alfred who?", I'll give you one hint--think Batman!

How about Sir Anthony Hopkins? I also wouldn't mind seeing Mrs. Holmes. Gad, I remember seeing something somewhere on the Net where they were speculating who would play Sherlock's OTHER relatives. The example I can think of here is Hugh Laurie (House) as Sherringford Holmes. It was as if they were trying to get every last actor Benedict, outside of Martin, has ever worked with in there.

Any thoughts on this? Yes, there a LOT of great ones out there, but I could only come with those two! SHNUTS!!!

Is just me or does the Holmes family multiply like rabbits? Just a thought!

Sincerely yours always,

Indy.

Yeah I know he was the Doctor and he was great as Lennon, but he can't be the father of someone one two years younger than him...

Haha, of course I know which alfred you mean! :D I don't think they could afford famous actors like that though... But there are so many! Just pick one who is at least close to the right age!

I'm not very good with names I have to say. But maybe Michael Cambon? (I might have gotten his name wrong, he was Dumbledore in Harry Potter). I mean he is very good at playing old grumps/ scary old grumps and lets face it, Holmes Senior must be terrifying... And he's already worked with Moffat so reeling him in must be easy.
