Portrait of a Prince of Asgard by Nero749 Portrait of a Prince of Asgard by Nero749
We have to fill the wait for the next movie, don't we? ;)

Quite a pretentious title I blame entirely on the painting itself. I (almost) never have a plan when I start a new painting, and this one ended up looking like it should be framed in a golden baroque frame almost bigger than the painting itself. (I'm sure you know the type of frame I mean.)

I think I'm finally getting a hang of doing simple textures that make things look real, but without entirely loosing the charm of a painted portrait.

Undoubtedly there will be more Loki in the future. :devilish:

Available from Redbubble as a print and other things I suppose you might want it on:[link]

Oh, beautiful work! :D I love how soulful his expression is, you captured the look of his eyes absolutely perfectly :D He has this mixture of sorrow, pain and determination, and you caught it spot on  The detail on the hair is beautiful as well, and I like the way the light brings out only half of him, but with such definition and intensity against the darkness - very cool contrast! Also, the skin texture of his face is great. Fantastic job on the portrait :D And yay for more Loki!

I love how you made his armour shine here! :aww: His skin looks great as well, very real and painting-like at the same time.

Oh darn, more Loki. ;)

Not sure why, but that shoulder piece is probably my favorite part of this. Whole thing looks great though!

Hehe, I could totally imagine this framed in a giant gold baroque frame hanging above the enormous fireplace of a giant medieval castle! :D Always happy for more Loki!

Dear Fox:

This is Indy. Greetings from Canada!! I hope this finds you and yours well.

Loki is a figure from Norse (Viking) mythology. He is the God of Mischief, plus a few other things. If you have seen Tom Hiddleston's performance in either Thor or the last Avengers movie, you know he's that type of god who really likes to raise hell (pardon my French.)

Yes, you'll be seeing plenty of this fellow, including in the next three Avengers movies they are planning, if things go that way. Next to the Joker in Batman or Lex Luthor for Superman, you can't beat this guy in the utter evil department.

I hope this helps!!!

Sincerely yours always,

Indy.

Ah, I think, now I understand! I realized yesterday evening there was a Yu-Gi-Oh! card named "Loki, Lord of the Aesir"... because those Aesir cards seemed to be familiar somehow o.O
I haven't watched the Avengers movie yet but it sounds interesting.

yes, this really helps - thank you very much! :)
