Severus Snape by Nero749 Severus Snape by Nero749
Years ago, when I was just discovering Harry Potter (the fourth book had just come out), I tried to convince my mum to read the books. Of course she didn't listen to her kid - parents, when will they learn.
Then the movie came out and her obsession with Snape (and eventually Alan Rickman as any bad guy) began. So this is for her.

I actually made this as her birthday present. I'll have it printed on 40x50cm paper and framed. I already had her present, so this is more of a bonus present.

Why? Well, for some reason she has the Snape I drew for her in 2006 framed and on her freaking living room wall! It isn't event hat bad, but still I kinda felt like I had to proof I could do more with the character this time around.

I know she likes art nouveau and though she's never seen anything I've done with it I'm pretty sure she'll like this. It's more elaborate and dark than I normally make these, again, because think she'll like that better.

In case you are wondering (and if you have guessed this by yourself, hurray for you ;)), my reference for Snape was actually an action figure of him LOL He just looked kinda impressive with the flowy cape :XD:

Sounds like the way. I discovered Snape (and then Alan Rickman) just last year. This image was one of the first I found.  Hoping to own one of your Snape originals one day!

Have you submitted this to teefury? They do a lot of Art Nouveau styles and they've only had one, mediocre Snape shirt so far.

The background reminds me of the stained glass platforms of the princess you saw on Kingdom Hearts in Sora's dream. This is very beautiful I like the shade of blue you used.

WHat is Kingdom Hearts? It's the second time I've been compared to it but I have no idea what it is :O

Kingdom Hearts is a video game created by Disney and Square Enix. Its a combination of both Disney characters and those from Final Fantasy. Basically you are going to different worlds battling famous Disney villians and creatures called Heartless who are attempting to destroy worlds by swallowing the heart of that world. Your artwork with Professor Snape and the stained glass background has a similar look to the ones in the very beginning of Kingdom Hearts. Here's a link to give you a better picture.

Sorry for the long link.

Wow! To be honest, I think the patterns on the robe are a bit much, but overall lovely work! And I do know the figure after which you made your Snape - its wonderful :)

It is, right!? I mean I spend a lot of time finding a reference and I end up with this tiny image from amazon LOL

Oh. My. God. You did Snape. *hyperventilates* I don't know how to deal with this much good in my life. This is SO BRILLIANT. Oh God, I'm having an Arthur moment; I'm just dying of happiness! I love your mom to pieces for being the reason you created this (as well as for her taste in fictional characters and actors). This is so beautiful, and I love the pose you have him in. It is truly impressive, very much Alan Rickman's Snape from the last couple films. (I apparently still cannot think on this subject without getting shivery.) There's rather a lot of flowers in evidence, but it goes with the theme of Lily. XD And is there any remote chance you might do a bit more of this character?

Seriously, there will never be a more transcendent character in fiction than Snape, IMHO; and, superficial as this is, the reason for my initial interest in Benedict was because his voice reminded me so much of Alan Rickman's at times. So you've made me sooo happy :D Thanks so much for sharing this stunning piece!!

Wow, that's the best reaction I've had! :D Good to know someone loves it :D And yeah I decided the flowers weren't that bad after all :XD:

I don't think I'll do more Snape stuff... I just really wouldn't know what to do :O

Ooh yes, they do have the same timbre, donˇuTube in case you've never heard it :))p on YouTube in case you've never heard it :))p on YouTube in case you've never heard it :))

Oh yes, I'm madly in love with this piece. The pose, the cape, the patterns... It's the sort of thing I'd love to hang up. I've thought about it, and I can't work out what the hummingbird and butterfly mean though. Do I get a clue? :D

I think your last sentence got a bit mangled - I'm not quite sure what you mean? There's something on YouTube that's related to Benedict and Rickman? One of the first things of Benedict I did hunt down all those months ago was an audio clip of him singing "Candle in the Wind" in Rickman's voice. XD It cracked me up, and I knew I had to find out more about this man. Yeaaaah, and down the rabbit hole I went, utterly incapable of looking back.

This is absolutely brilliant  Me loves Snape so much. And Harry Potter too. Do you know how much? I told my sister that if one day I will have amnesia and I wont remember a single thing, give the books in my hand and tell the doctors to wait curing me until I read all the HP books again:la: :D I know it's weird, but I wish I could read the story for the first time again...and again...and again....
PS: Your mom must be awesome. Mine doesnt even want to watch the movies!:iconweirdplz:

Ha, that's right about when I first started Harry Potter, too. Good, good times.
And I must agree that Snape is absolutely fantastic as a character, so wonderful choice and beautifully drawn! The detail is gorgeous, as always.

Snape is one of the most awesome characters in the history of literature, I tell youXD And Alan Rickman is sexy, fullstop!
I hope your mum will love it! The style suits the character and I also thought the pose is pretty stunning! I love his face and his arm position very much!

Oh, I don't so much mind. Keeps me humble. Lol! And it helps me spot trends and patterns. With no formal training in art, I probably need that a lot more than you do! However, I can totally see your point on this. It still is really kind of touching that, to your mum's eye, there's something in the original that isn't in the new version. Must say, this is one heck of a good Art Nouveau. Even for you, the framing is spectacular. I'm really having fun with this almost 'stained glass' look you've been playing with lately. It's really very locked-down. Compare this: [link] (Btw, I love the black Tudor roses embroidered on the robes) to this, [link] and this, [link] Two different things going on here! But I love them both!
