I am irrationally in love with this piece. I know it's not as detailed in some ways as your others, but uuurrrghhh. This scene. This silhouette. HIS SILHOUETTE IS SO BEAUTIFUL. I debated for ages over making this my desktop wallpaper but.... in the end it just caused too many emotions. I write stories on that laptop. I'd never get anything done if I just kept seeing this and getting overwhelmed by feelings....
Haha, I have such a cluttered desktop that I often don't even SEE what my background is lOL Yeah, I love it too, even though I am usually not up to simple art - as you might have noticed I mean it's not that I dislike the style, I just seem incapible of it
This painting has the kind of dark moodiness I generally go to Amanda's site looking for. She's the Queen of sticking the character in the darkness and using tiny slivers of light (like on Sherlock's cheek and Mycroft's glove) to push the viewer. Leads to eyestrain, sure, but also much admiration.
So I saw this and did a double-take. This is hard to explain, but there's a certain meatiness that a painting can have. Like a solid heaviness there in the shape, texture, and some trick of properly used uniform colours. The result is like eating a treat with your brain. Sherlock, in this painting has that. If you'd gotten an eyelash off, it might have thrown the balance, but it's dead on. So, for me, this one is a real joy. Well done!
OMG my brain is screaming rn! HOW LOVELY IS HIS PROFILE! Oh! Feeling a faint coming on over here, from the beauty of those eyelashes!!! His features are so soft and full from this angle, you know? He's got such lovely curves to his face!!!
